Sophomore Crystal Gunter joined the Women’s Center Staff last Fall Quarter as a volunteer for the center’s Love Your Body Day Symposium. Now Crystal is volunteering, but working on organizing, managing and facilitating the Mentoring Program.
Crystal is studying outdoor recreation and education, and her interests include recreation, outdoor leadership, gender studies and communications. She aspires to be an excursion leader for cruise ships.
In her free time, she enjoys climbing, scuba diving and kayaking. Crystal is an involved member of the Ohio University community, serving as the vice president of the Ohio University Rec Club, a teaching assistant for Ohio Scuba, Challenge Course Facilitator and Baker Center Student Manager.
Crystal’s favorite Women’s Center event is Take Back the Night, and enjoys working at the center because of the support it offers students. “I love how we are a close-knit family of people who share the same feelings, ideas and interests,” she said. “As one of the very few women in my field it is very difficult to share of express my skills, talents and abilities as women. When I found the Women’s Center, it was as though I found my home here at Ohio (University).”
