Meet Our Staff: Rui Xu

Women’s Center Intern Rui Xu is a senior majoring in communications studies with a minor in music. Rui is an international student originally from China, and helped plan this year’s International Women’s Day (March 13!). Event planning is one of Rui’s areas of interest within communications, along with conflict resolution and mediation, public relations and human resource work. She hopes to work in international communication after graduation.

Rui is an involved member of the OU community, participating in Lambda Pi Eta College, the official communication studies honor society of the National Communications Association, Students for Global Media Diversity and her punk band CHISWOLA. Rui’s other hobbies include origami, traveling and making friends.

Rui said her favorite Women’s Center event is International Women’s Day, and she enjoys working at the Women’s Center because of its comfortable working environment. “(I have) very nice coworkers and I have a lot of chances to do international student outreach,” she said.
