Kristen Magers is beginning her first quarter as a Women’s Center employee after volunteering at the Center during Fall Quarter. Kristen is a senior studying women’s and gender studies and psychology.

“My academic interests are mostly within pop culture, and especially reality television. I’m also really interested in gender and drag,” she said, adding that she plans to attend Graduate School next year to continue with women’s and gender studies. “I’d like to be a professor and maybe eventually run a Women’s Center at a really cool college.”

Kristen said her favorite Women’s Center events are Walk a Mile in Her Shoes and Take Back the Night March and Rally. “I really like the unity of Take Back the Night,” she said. “I think it’s a really empowering statement to make.”

Kristen’s other interests include watching too much reality TV, reading and cooking. “I make really good lasagna and pizza,” she said. Kristen hopes to use her cooking skills one day to open a restaurant.
