Corey Stevens, Graduate Assistant for the Ohio University Survivor Advocacy Program, is a second-year master’s student studying sociology and a participant in the women’s and gender studies graduate certificate program. As a graduate assistant for SAP, Corey works with program coordinator Lindsey Daniels in McKee House. “I love my coworkers,” she said, adding that her favorite Women’s Center event is Love Your Body Day. “I also really enjoy feeling like I am doing something positive for the OU community.”
Corey’s academic interests include fat studies/sociology of the body, inequalities, feminist pedagogy, gender, sexuality and race relations. Corey is an active member of both the Ohio University and Athens communities, as she serves as a mentor in the Women’s Center Mentoring Program, is a member of the Calliope Feminist Choir and serves on the board of SuBAMUH.
Corey is currently applying to graduate schools to work on her doctoral degree in sociology. In her free time, Corey enjoys singing, reading, learning to cook and over analyzing Television Shows. Corey also said she can make her fingers belly dance. “Feel free to ask for a demonstration,” she said.
