Lauren Arian is a senior studying women’s and gender studies and has been employed at the Women’s Center for three years. Lauren will graduate at the end of Fall Quarter, and her interests within women’s and gender studies include body studies, transnational feminism and sexual health.

Lauren’s favorite Women’s Center event is International Women’s Day, and said she loves working at the center because of the sense of community created by being around women with similar interests and goals.

Currently, Lauren is applying to AmeriCorp positions with the hope of moving to the Northwest after graduating in November. “I picture myself hanging out with the cast of Free Willy while working for women oriented non-profits,” she said.

Lauren said that in her free time, she “loves all things outdoors,” including hiking, biking and swimming. She also said she enjoys reading, watching Mad Men and browsing the Internet. Lauren is also interested in vegetarianism and has been a vegetarian for years. “(Vegetarianism is) seemingly boring, but I am capable of thrilling conversation about my food ethics,” she said.
