The Women’s Center will host the fourth annual International Women’s Day Festival on Sunday March 11, 2012. The Festival will take place in the Baker Center Ballroom from 2-6pm.
The Women’s Center celebrates International Women’s Day festival every year on the Sunday closest to March 8. This year, Ohio University Women’s Center will capture the 2012 theme: “Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures” though celebrating the past, present, and future achievements of women worldwide. The festival will also provide an opportunity for those in the campus and community to come together to draw attention upon and discuss women’s and girl’s achievements, their current status in the world today and to look towards women’s futures.
Festivities will include an international fashion show, traditional Japanese and Nigerian dancing, poetry readings, vendors from all over the world and more! All are invited to join in the celebration of women is a global context, with childcare available as well.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the diversity of our community, and the many accomplishments women have made in the past, present, and future, and, simply put, it is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate women,” states Dr. Susanne Dietzel, Director of the Women’s Center.
The Women’s Center at Ohio University strives to “act as a catalyst to promote awareness, education, and advocacy about women, gender, and diversity, among faculty, staff and students at Ohio University and its surrounding communities.
